Sound Design has always fascinated me.  I’m a big fan of Glitch, Minimal and any thing that sounds broken.   Audio really adds a new level to motion graphics and even the most boring tutorials.   Pushing  the soundFX requires a great ear and the patience to detail the noise out.   Like many,  I know what I like, but don’t know how to get there.

This totally figures.  I just…let me re-phrase this to…  well I finally set up my Nikon D200 to do time lapse photography.  I have been recording the streets and other various things.  Super cool.  THEN out of no where, my buddies over at Astro Studios drop this on to their blog.   Looks like Devo has something to do with this, sweet.   You guys rock!

I must say that Alias looks pretty cool in time lapse.  look at his hand all over the clutch keys.  [CTRL +[ SHIFT ] +ALT]

This will definitely take you way back well before I was even born.   This must have been what it was like for my Dad to fall in love with the money shots that drove him to get his first and probably his last car, a ’69 Plymouth Roadrunner(he still has it)   Check out what Brooks, AKA Denis Syplenko, is doing with this 1970 Plymouth Fury and recreating the ads of the era. As one of the winners of 3six0.net HDR contest, its no wonder that he has great lighting and a good eye for camera angles.

Tip : Always, Always use reference in your own work to establish the foundation of a style and emotion and overall increase the believability of  a design.

Maxed

My workstation is completely guilty for increasing my electric bill. Especially when I’m working on renders that compute all night long.   In order to get the most bang for the buck, I have built a machine that is easily upgradable and overclocked.

Though the “4ghz club” is not as prestigious as the “Mile High Club”,  it still is quite rewarding.  The Intel i7 920 is able to crank out an impressive  65% boost over its stock speed. I probably could go higher but I would have to switch to water cooling.

I’m using the Huge Prolimatech Megahalem to keep the system cool with 3 2k rpm case/CPU fans along with SpeedFan for temperature control.   This allows me to run the system for everyday needs with absolutely NO NOISE , and the moment I need everything that its got, the fans kick on full speed ahead.

I highly recommend this set-up.

CPU : Intel i7 920 D0 step @ 4ghz
MOBO : Asus P6T Deluxe V2
MEMORY : 6gigs of Corsair DominatorDD3 1600 8-8-8-24
VIDEO :  Nvidia Quadro FX5600
HARDDRIVES : Western Digital Velociraptor and Caviar Green
CASE :  the Super simple Lian Li Aluminum case A05B
HEATSINK : Prolimatech Megahalem with OCZ FreeZe
PSU : Corsair 750HX(probably would go with 850 now)
FANS :3  Scythe Slipstream 2000 rpm
DVD : who cares?

What a novel awesome product.  Evidently the $1500 buck price tag was not all that steep for a lot of fans. Totally sold out.  I really like the drawing style and design.

Cant help but think of  launching potatoes and golf balls into the woods, propelled by a shifty combination of PVC and Aqua-net.

I wonder what rice puffs would do at a club?

Qube Konstruct recently updated their reel with many of their projects from MTV, Toyotya, and Royal Elastic.  I found this Video in particular, to be quite inspiring for some upcoming projects of mine.

COUNTDOWN LEADER // Qube Konstrukt // 2006

What began as a small internal project to create a countdown leader for use in the studio’s post-production work became an odyssey of engine design and virtual construction. Inspiration was initially found in the form and function of pre-digital, mechanical flip clocks. In what might be a subconscious metaphor for the studio’s working process, the object initially explores numerous forms, frenetically deconstructing and reconfiguring itself. As the object resolves to its final design the countdown begins, on time and in sync. The 3d elements were used to create a self promotional poster illustration.
